INEOS TEAM UK arrive in Murcia
The English team will prepare for the Copa América, which will celebrate its 36th edition in New Zealand in 2021, in the waters of the Mar Menor. This team is led by Ben Ainslie, who has won the International Sailing Federation's World Sailor of the Year award the most times, and who captained the Land Rover team in the last edition of the America's Cup.
We must highlight the presence in the team of Xabi Fernández, a double Olympic medalist and perhaps one of the reasons why the team decided to prepare in the Mar Menor instead of other options such as Miami or Dubai.
This team will represent the Royal Yacht Squadron Racing in the America's Cup, it also has a budget of more than one hundred million euros that is financed by INEOS, the largest engineering company in Great Britain and one of the largest manufacturing groups in the world. Its founder, Jim Ratcliffe, is the richest man in the UK.
The goal of this team is to bring the trophy to Great Britain, since this country has never won it since the creation of this regatta in 1851.
The new boats that have been designed for the America's Cup that is taking place are the latest in navigation technology. They will be equipped with three foils, one at the stern and two on each side, which will allow the boats to practically fly over the water. Here is an explanatory video:
Finally, remember that the 36th edition of the Copa América will take place from March 6 to 21, 2021 in New Zealand.
